This 4-channel Class-D power amp is efficient, flexible in connection and configuration, and comes ready to integrate into any existing 2U rack space. Its driving power accommodates both low- and high-impedance speaker systems at the same time, and even offers Double Power Mode for driving seriously high-output systems. Easily chain the XMV4280-D with your other Yamaha install audio system devices such as the MTX Series of processors, too. Smart redundant functions, versatile source selections, internal protection features — the XMV4280-D covers all the bases with ease. And with its Dante virtual audio network compatibility, the XMV4280-D easily accommodates extra-large spaces that require long-distance cabling. Designing an audio system for a commercial space? maha’s patent-pending output voltage-matching circuit works in conjunction with its highly-efficient Class D circuitry to bring the XM4140’s outbound efficiency to over 90%. Its automatic switching engages the lower voltage drive for low-impedance operation to avoid drastic energy loss, maintaining an efficient workflow while performing with impeccable clarity. Armed with Power Factor Correction in its power supply, the XMV4280-D delivers harmonically balanced audio at lower currents without affecting its output intensity. No breaker shutdowns or heavy and bulky cabling is required!

Versatile operation that’s protected

Understandably, every application isn’t going to be equal — you’ll need to run both high- and low-impedance connections within the same space at times that would ordinarily require the use of varying amps and transformers. Luckily, the XMV4280-D can handle both impedances, even at the same time, enabling both streamlined system linking and much simpler installation. This power amp not only accommodates high-impedance, 70V/100V (250W) line-level connections and low-impedance, 4-ohm/8-ohm (280W) connections at the same time, but offers assignability for 70V and 100V modes to channel pairs without inhibiting the total number of available outputs — eliminating the need for bridge mode channel combinations!

Yamaha is also introducing their newly engineered Double Power Mode, which enables operation with high-output speaker systems by doubling the output power of your selected channels. Working with speakers that feature multiple output capacities? No longer a problem! The XMV4280-D is also equipped with automatic protection functions, creating an operational environment that's unphased by unfavorable conditions. The XMV4280-D’s intelligent engineering actively protects the unit from overheating, overcurrent, low-load impedance, and other ordinarily damaging situations for in-field dependability like no other power amp.

Working smarter and harder

Detecting and preventing roadblocks in your system carries over to the XMV4280-D’s dual redundant functions: Backup mode and Override mode. In Backup mode, this power amp will automatically switch to analog inputs when incoming digital input interruptions are detected, with the brains to return to the digital input once the original source is recovered. The other side of the coin is Override mode, which switches input sources within a channel — free of interruptions — when a voice input from any analog input is detected. Either way, the XMV4280-D will always have your back.

You also have the freedom to select per-channel input sources with the XMV4280-D, and to further mix digital and analog Euroblock connections for each input, should your situation require it. And with Dante built into the XMV4280-D, setting up your system via Ethernet and Ethernet-driven controllers like AMX/Crestron is as good as done!

Better when combined!

An already intuitive and effortless power amplifier like the XMV4280-D becomes even easier to manage when used with other separately sold Yamaha install audio devices like the MTX and MRX Series of processors. Their conjunctive usage enables computer-set changes and settings like mute and attenuator preferences directly from the MTX-MRX Editor software app, as well as the PV Touch, PV Control, and PV Amp Editor. Yamaha knows pro audio, and the XMV Series and it’s install audio relatives are simply built for the job.

Safe, expandable Dante armament

The XMV4280-D is Dante-enabled, making it perfect for larger spaces and venues that require extensive cabling. This power amp supports the Audinate “Dante Domain Manager” audio network interconnectivity standard: an admin software that takes extra care for user authentication and security settings to ensure a virtual forcefield of protection for your entire system. Speaking of security, Dante Device Lock wards off the threat of third-party setting modifications when operated by outside personnel — ideal for use in larger concert hall settings! You also get support for the AES67 audio network interconnection standard, welcoming connection with networks like Ravenna, Q-LAN, and Livewire for unprecedented expansion possibilities.
